The Philippines is indeed brimming with talent. From dancers to actors, we have a lot of popular talents and celebrities that attest to this. But the talent we are most known for is in the field of singing. It has been known to almost all the people in the world that Filipinos love to sing, and that we are actually pretty good at it.
As a matter of fact, there have been a lot of singing competitions all over the world wherein Filipinos have made a name for themselves. From Jasmine Trias’ appearance in American Idol Season 3, to the recent outstanding Pinoy auditionees in X-factor and The Voice USA, we undeniably have a wealth of brilliant singers among our country.
This talent is also evident in how much we, as a public, patronize singing talent competitions, and Sunday variety shows that exhibit exemplary singing performances. Along the list of these variety shows are ASAP and then consistent Sunday show for the Kapuso network, SOP.
Unfortunately, SOP was taken out of the Sunday roster and since then, numerous singers from the Kapuso network have transferred to its rival network, ABS-CBN one at a time. It started with Lani Misalucha, then Jaya,
then Janno Gibbs. Soon after, he was followed by singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid. And just recently, the roster has been completed with the official signing of contract by none other than the Asia’s Songbird herself, Regine Velasquez.
A lot of rumors have been circulating online about the pending transfer of one of GMA’s biggest stars until last October 17, 2018, Regine officially signed a contract with her original and home network, ABS-CBN.
A lot of netizens and fans and followers of the Songbird were feeling extreme emotions about this move. While most of them were shocked, a lot of them still mentioned that no matter where Regine is, their support will still remain.
Regine, on the other hand, also admitted to feeling a lot of emotions during the transfer. According to her, she was really overwhelmed by everyone’s reaction and support, but on top of it all, she is just excited to be back to her original network and be working with her husband.
Other residents of the network like Jed Madela, Erik Santos, Jona Viray, and a lot more have also expressed their excitement to be working and collaborating with one of the pillars of the Filipino music industry.
