Most people from a third world country would definitely not have it easy. Most people from these countries, like the one we live in, need to strive harder in order to live comfortably. As a matter of fact, majority of the people here have to work extra hard just so they could make ends meet.
With issues like the highly priced commodities, oil price hikes, and unemployment, a lot of people from our country do not have a choice but to settle with their current state of living. Filipino people are one of the most resilient people in the world, and we find various ways to cope with these hard times.
As part of the solution to the problem of having a more comfortable way of living, a lot of families decide to send off the heads of their households to foreign countries. They opt to apply for jobs overseas as they will be able to earn more for the hard work that they do in their own country.
While this increases their chances at living comfortably, and somehow contributes to the overall economy of the country, we also can’t deny the fact that this greatly affects the families they leave behind in the Philippines.
Most of these children grow up without their parents because they are in some foreign land. This also sometimes lead to children not being close to their parents. Or in some worst cases, children grow up not recognizing their parents, just like in this recent viral post on social media.
An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) under the name of Yeth Espiritu Cuadra planned to surprise her family by returning home earlier than expected. According to her, she was originally coming home to the Philippines on December but things took a better turn and her arrival to the country was moved to a much earlier date.
With this in mind, she wanted to plan a surprise for her family and came home. Little did she know that she was the one who was about to be surprised, and not in a very good manner at that. When she came home, not her mother nor her children recognized her. She even had to introduce herself to her youngest child just so they would know that she is their mother.
