Health is such an important aspect of life. It is the very thing that gives us life and enables us to do the things we want to do, and achieve the dreams we aspire to realize one day. When we were kids, our parents have always put a premium on our well-being and health.
But as we grow older, we get consumed by so many things that adulthood throws at us and we tend to forget to take care of ourselves, especially our health. Good thing there are several companies that offer health cards and other health benefits for the working class.
However, as Philippines is a third world country, we can’t really expect that all of the citizens in our nation have the same medical privileges that the working class has. As a matter of fact, there are very many people in the rural areas who are not blessed with institutions to address their health issues.
In an episode of Kapuso network GMA’s documentary show called Front Row, we witness how a not so well-off family make ends meet just to sustain their father’s health. In the video, we learn that the father is suffering from Emphysema, a condition in which the air sacs of the lungs are damaged and enlarged, causing the body to experience breathlessness.
As a way to maintain and manage this condition, the father needs to be consistently subjected to a nebulizer. The family, given their financial constraints, could not afford an electronic nebulizer which will do the trick for their father’s condition. This is why the kids went out of their way to make sure that the nebulizer is powered for their dad.
In a genius way, they took a tire pump and used it as a way to make the nebulizer work. They manually pump air into it so that their dad would be able to breathe. These kids are only 8 and 6 years old, yet they don’t mind how physically tiring this is for their small bodies. The only thing they want to make sure is that their father is alive and breathing.
According to their mom, these kids have been blessings for their family as they are very considerate of their father’s condition. She even shared that the 8-year old boy even tells her to prioritize resting as he will take on the responsibility of taking care of his father.
