Strong flood slams down houses in Baguio City

Typhoon Ompong has brought dark days among several citizen in our country this week. Weather experts said it is the strongest typhoon to strike the Philippines this year. Although Ompong is not classified as a super typhoon, it brought heavy damage in ruralplaces and in the city. Good thing nearly everyone managed to stay informed via fast updates of news sources. Some remote parts in North Luzon suffered from a strong surge of flood during the stay of Ompong in our country.

The news page of GMA News in Facebook posted an update of the current situation in Imelda Village, Baguio City. The video showed how the strong typhoon slammed a lot of houses around the area.

The GMA News wrote in their post, “Nagmistulang waterfalls ang mga bintana ng ilang bahay sa Imelda Village, Baguio City dahil sa ulang dala ng Bagyong #OmpongPH. Kuha ni YouScooper Gladys Vergara kaninang hapon.”

Each house looked it had a built-in waterfall as seen on the viral footage. The village has a body of water just a few meters away. So, the non-stop downfall of rain just brought more impact on the local community.

A strong flow of flood even came out of the windows of the houses. Some of their personal belongings were either destroyed or carried away by the flood.

The flood strike repeatedly almost all of the houses and slammed it down. This horrible calamity certainly left an unforgettable memory to its residents.

Good thing, there were no reports of severe physical injuries among local residents.

Meanwhile, a netizen pointed out that the deforestation in Baguio City probably is another factor of strong floods.

Other netizens urged each other to pray for everyone’s sake amid the strong storm this week.
