Say Alonzo had to bid the limelight goodbye in 2014 after she gave birth to her son, Asher Kane. She still took on hosting jobs and did a bit of travel vlogging while caring for her son full-time, but she wasn’t really visible in the entertainment industry.
Now that her son is already old enough to be left alone, Say Alonzo feels she is ready to make her comeback.
“My manager and I have been talking about it for like two months now. Hopefully makabalik na soon. Sabi ko rom-com pero gusto nila drama kasi they want something different for me kasi I’m coming back after five years. So I’m going back hopefully I can do a romantic comedy,” she told the Philippines’ Ultimate Showbiz Hub.
Sometimes, non-showbiz boyfriends or husbands get in the way when they ask their partners to settle down, but Say Alonzo reveals that her husband was actually the one who encouraged her to seek the limelight once more.
“Sabi niya, ‘You know you’ve been super hands on kay Asher. It’s time for you to go back to your career.’ But I told him I’m doing what I do which is hosting, doing events, and stuff. Tapos sabi niya, ‘Yeah but you also act so why don’t you go back?’ So I’m starting to take workshops kasi siyempre medyo rusty ka na after five years of not doing it. So you don’t want to go back unprepared.”
Impressively, through bouts in and out of showbiz, Say Alonzo was able to keep in close touch with her batchmates in the PBB house such as Nene Tamayo and Wendy Valdez.
“We’re really in touch. We have a Viber group and a Facebook group so we always talk to each other -even the batch two. Kahit na tapos na ang PBB we still talk to each other and we see each other.”
