Viva Artist Agency is bringing the hype as they introduce their newest signee Sofia Gonzales-Romualdez. The 18-year-old lass is the eldest daughter of former actress and incumbent mayor of Tacloban City Cristina Gonzales and husband Alfred Romualdez. With her soothing voice perfect for emotional “hugot” songs, this gorgeous young lady will surely conquer the music chart in the future!
In an interview with PUSH, the young musician shared that she loves listening to old jazz music as well as modern songs – common traits found in most millennials.
“It’s more of Jazz, R&B kind of thing,” she said.
During the launch of her debut single “Thinking of U”, Sofia recounted that her fondness in singing became more serious when her hometown in Tacloban was struck by the super typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
According to her, she personally composed her songs because she wants to introduce her “sound, music, and inspiration to other millennials.”
Sofia admitted that her mother played a huge part in her decision of entering the spotlight of show business. She said that her mother keeps reminding of the most important thing about being an artist.
“My mom always tells me to stay humble and work hard for my dreams. And to always give my best in everything that I do,” she said.
In the previous report by the Manila Times in 2016, Cristina revealed that entering showbiz has been a dream for her daughter.
“It was her choice and she’s so excited about it. She told me thought she doesn’t want to be an actress but she wants to focus on singing because composes, she has a good voice, and she plays the piano, guitar and the ukulele. I never learned any of those when I was in showbiz!”
Presently, Sofia’s first solo album under Viva Records is being produced.
