Award-winning actor and TV host Paolo Ballesteros got a chance to open up about his sexual preference on the newest segment of Eat Bulaga called Humans of Barangay, which is hosted by Maine Mendoza.
Launched last April 2, the 35-year-old Kapuso star, who was featured, tapped on the sensitive issue of coming out as part of the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) community.
Here’s what he said:
“Ang paglaladlad, personal choice ‘yan. Hindi ‘yun madidikta ng kahit sino, lalo na ng society na ginagalawan mo. Just take your time, kahit mga 100 years pa ‘yan, ikaw ang bahala. Kasi ikaw ang magbubukas ng sarili mong “closet,” hindi ibang tao.”
According to Maine Mendoza, Brandon Stanton of the famous Humans of New York inspired her to come up with this project. She encouraged all the interested people on social media to share their stories.
Read what she had to say below:
“Every person has their own story to tell. That includes times of adversity that is filled with lessons, motivation, and inspiration. Considering myself fortunate for being in Eat Bulaga’s ‘Juan for All’ segment and having the opportunity to visit different barangays around the country, I would like to take this chance to collect stories from people I come across to every single day.”
“Since I get to meet people in different walks of life, I was deeply inspired by how they manage to survive and be thankful even for the smallest things that they have. Hoping that this project will inspire us to be a better person in one way or the other. I am taking the chance that the universe gave me to help others and spread awareness of what the real world is. One photo, one story at a time.”
