It must have been difficult to admit, but Jessy Mendiola inspired lots of women when she admitted to suffering from depression due to body shaming.
“I felt really down and started losing my confidence. I loved myself then (big thighs, belly rolls, and round face), but when people started pointing out my flaws, I started hating myself, at times even thinking I was a bad person for having ‘thunder thighs.’ I stopped working out, I got depressed, binge ate my feelings off, and started gaining more weight than I should,” Jessy Mendiola said about the time right after she won FHM’s sexiest in 2016.
She narrated how she couldn’t shake the tag ‘pata girl,’ but that she eventually built herself up again by simply changing her perspective.
Despite all these, Jessy Mendiola proves “comeback is real.”
In a recent bikini photo she posted on Instagram, there is hardly anything negative netizens could come up with — to be fair; Jessy really does look flawless in it.
Finally, netizens are able to share positive comments with Jessy not just on her body but also with her attitude, grace, and how well she handled the negativity at its peak:
“All the hate thrown against you has only made you better! And not bitter. Love your attitude,” said one netizen.
“Still my idol. Pag my nambabash sayo feeling ko ang bigat sa pakiramdam kasi parepareho naman tayong tao pero ewan ko ba. Hindi ko sila maintindihan kung bakit nila kailangan mambash,” commented another.
“Nice one.ms. jessy… tpos ang nga haters.mo… ngayun balat.kayo.. na2man…. todo like at papuri na2man…mga tao nga nmn.o…tskkk…. keep.inspires us…. to be beautiful..inside and out,” said yet another.
